Barre is from ballet, so the movements are graceful rather than jolting. There isn’t a demand for jumping and bouncing all around. So, your movements will be easy on your joints and gentle on your posture.
Essentially, the small isometric muscle movements used during barre classes build muscle strength without putting a strain on ligaments and tendons.
Don't think it's a wimpy workout though...You will still get a good sweat because its intense!
